What is MJML and why does Letro use it?+
MJML is an open-source markup language that compiles to cross-client HTML email. Instead of writing table-heavy HTML by hand, you write semantic components like mj-section and mj-button. Letro uses MJML because it produces reliable, inbox-tested HTML that renders correctly in Outlook, Gmail, Apple Mail, and hundreds of other clients.
Do I need to know how to code to use Letro?+
No. The AI generates the MJML for you, and the visual block editor lets you edit any element by clicking it. If you're a developer, you can also drop into the raw MJML editor at any time.
What counts as 1 credit?+
1 credit = 1 full email generation. Refining or editing an existing email costs 0.5 credits. Screenshot-to-email uses 1 credit. Credits reset monthly on paid plans; top-up credits never expire.
How does Screenshot to Email work?+
Switch to Screenshot mode in the AI panel, upload any email screenshot or design mockup, and Letro reconstructs it as production-ready MJML — faithful to the original layout. You can then edit any block visually or via AI.
Can I edit the AI-generated email without touching code?+
Yes. Click any block in the live preview to select it, then edit its padding, colors, fonts, text, and images in the Properties panel. You can also drag components from the block library to reorder or add sections — no code needed.
Can I use AI to edit just one block?+
Yes. Select a block in the editor, then type your instruction in the AI chat — "make this button red" or "rewrite this copy as more urgent". Letro scopes the change to that block only, leaving the rest of the email untouched.
How does Brand setup work?+
Paste your website URL and Letro auto-extracts your brand name, colors, fonts, logo, industry, and tone of voice. You can also fill any field manually. Once set as active, your brand profile is injected into every AI generation automatically.
What is the Knowledge Base?+
Upload brand guidelines, product catalogs, or style documents (PDF, TXT, MD, CSV). Letro indexes them and pulls the most relevant sections into the AI prompt at generation time — so the AI knows your products, pricing, and rules without you repeating them.
What is the Media Library?+
Upload images once and reuse them across all campaigns. Copy any image URL with one click and paste it into your email's image blocks. The media picker is also built into the Properties panel so you can swap images without leaving the editor.
How do I get the email into my ESP?+
Export the compiled HTML file and paste it into your ESP's HTML editor. This works with Mailchimp, Klaviyo, Brevo, Customer.io, Postmark, Resend, SendGrid, and any platform that accepts raw HTML. You can also download MJML source if your ESP or pipeline supports it.
